LELO Sona Review
Raising orgasmic awareness is no small task. In fact, it’s a 24-hour operation. Even if I wake up in the middle of the night, I’m thinking about fulfilling my mission. Instead of just rolling over and going back to sleep, I can’t resist the temptation to check my emails on my phone. As I work with people in many different time zones, there could be developments at any time. Once I have taken care of anything urgent, I have discovered that masturbation is the perfect insomnia cure.
No matter how busy or tense I might be, once I am horizontal enjoying some me-time with a personal pleasure device, suddenly all my worrying thoughts are replaced with stimulating ones of unfulfilled fantasies. As I connect my mind to my body, I’m almost grateful to have a disturbed night, just to enjoy this moment of pleasure.
During my sessions of self-love, I have discovered many wonderful things about clitoral stimulation. And it’s not just about pleasure seeking and finding. I have found that an orgasm is the answer to almost everything. For example, once my own throbbing clitoris is calm, so is my mind and my body. My breathing is deeper and slower, providing me with an overall feeling of well-being and harmony.
My midnight masturbation sessions are not just about satisfying my selfish desires, however. My clitoris is the testing grounds for the orgasmic wisdom I want to share with the world.
Good things come to those who wait. Literally.
It seems that LELO has been busy researching their own clitoral concerns and the result is SONA.
I have to say that I am thrilled that LELO has brought out a new toy. It has been a long time since NEA 2 and LILY 2. I have often wondered what would come next. Naturally, I had very high expectations, as my most repeated toys of my extensive collection are SIRI 2, NEA 2 and LILY 2. Despite this, I must admit that when I first saw pictures of SONA, I was initially underwhelmed. A suction device? These toys have taken the world by storm. I know so many women who love them, but they are not my thing if I’m entirely honest.
But then I discovered that SONA is quite different.
LELO Sona is a high-end clitoral stimulator that uses sonic waves and pulses instead of traditional vibrations to stimulate the ENTIRE clitoris – including the much larger internal structure beyond the familiar external part. LELO claims that this type of stimulation reaches up to 75% more of the clitoris than a conventional vibrator.
SONA is fully waterproof, USB-rechargeable and it has 8 stimulation patterns.
It comes in an elegant box that is ideal for a gift. It also contains a USB charging cable, a drawstring storage bag, a 10-year warranty card, and a sachet of LELO personal lubricant.
How does it compare to the Womanizer?
That’s a big question! I have tried all the Womanizers and Satisfyers and according to my experience, there are several features that make SONA stand out.
- Firstly, its shape means that in addition to the nozzle that comes into contact with the body, around the clitoral hood, some parts of the toy are in contact with the vulva, allowing you to appreciate some residual ripples of pleasure. I can even appreciate it against my pubic bone, which feels divine.
- Secondly, the fact that there are 8 stimulation patterns with quick pulsations, waves and more, mean that it provides sensations that I have never experienced with a sex toy. The settings with the Womanizer are only continuous.
SONA is overall, a much more intense experience and it offers more pleasure possibilities.
There is a higher end model of Sona that integrates a ‘Cruise Control’ feature.
“While many conventional vibrators lose power when pressed hard against the body, SONA’s motor responds to the pressure and compensates in order to deliver a continuous, seamless session of stimulation. It’s not a setting, it is a completely automatic feature that serves to all-but guarantee 100% satisfaction, avoiding any unwanted drop-offs in power.”
Unlike many LELO toys that tend to be some of the most expensive on the market, LELO SONA is affordable. SONA is launching at the special introductory price of 69 USD (reduced from 149 USD), while SONA Cruise retails at 99 USD (reduced from 179 USD). The aim of this special introductory price is to allow even more people to have a deeper understanding of their clitoral capabilities.
It’s available in three colours: cerise, pink and black.
MATERIAL: ABS and silicone. Compatible with water-based lubricants.
NOISE LEVEL: Moderate.
POWER: Very intense.
USABILITY: I was pleased to discover that its shape fits snuggly in my vulva. The toy doesn’t just stimulate the clitoris, but also comes into contact with the vulva so and can press it against my pubic bone and benefit from the residual sonic waves. The shape not only favours intense stimulation, but it is also easy to hold. The buttons are located in the ideal place if you wish to increase or decrease the intensity at any time. What really stands out for me are the 8 stimulation modes. With other similar toys, the stimulation is continuous and can be increased or decreased, however, with SONA, there are quick pulsations, deep pulsations and waves. Using the toy with my thighs closed and with the wave setting on was incredible.
ORGASM-O-BILITY: As a frequent masturbator, I thought I had mastered the art of the silent orgasm, so as not to disturb my neighbours, of course. Despite this, SONA made me scream out loud in ecstasy.
PROS: Ergonomic shape, for holding and for cupping the vulva. Elegantly packaged, ideal for a gift. USB rechargeable, waterproof, discreet shape. Excellent value for money.
CONS: Not for the faint-hearted. SONA is a highly intense experience.
- Intense clitoral stimulation.
- Demanding women.
- A gift.
- Fast, deeply satisfying orgasms.
