Communication

Communication is key to having a successful and pleasurable BDSM relationship. You can’t dive in without discussing the semantics, rules, limits, and safe words. Make sure your partner has a full understanding of what BDSM will entail, what the different roles (dom/sub) mean and who will be who. It won’t work if you both want to be the sub or vice versa.

You will also need to discuss what your limits will be. Are you okay with anal play? Paddling? What level of pain or loss of control are you willing to go to? You want to make sure you are both on the same page. It’s fun to push limits, but you don’t want to push them so far that it becomes scary or someone gets hurt.

The best way to ensure no one gets hurt is to set up a safe word that you can use when one of you is approaching your limit. It was just recently that a good friend made an observation about my fetish for blindfolds.

Although Fetish photography usually works best when it’s done in a controlled environment like a dungeon or a specially decorated studio, I like to push the boundaries. One way to do this is to perform discreetly in a public place like a pizza restaurant. Part of the fetish value can be found in the simple fact that it happens without the other customers realising that it is. Another advantage is that the event occurs halfway between a closed set and the outside world. There’s nothing quite like going outside for real though and shooting a fetish set where bystanders, voyeurs and joggers might catch a glimpse adds even more to the experience.

When I’m posing outside, I have no idea what might happen. Having an unknown number of people in the background is always a risk. They may, or may not, even be aware that something provocative might be happening before their eyes or just at the periphery of their vision. What made this shoot even more thrilling and intimidating was that it took place in an area of dense woodland.

That type of environment can attract and hide any number of onlookers. Some could be totally innocent. Others might have different reasons for being there. As I shed my clothes, my imagination began to suggest any number of perverse stories in my mind.

I’d planned the shoot well in advance and I thought that I had everything under control and all eventualities accounted for. Then, in the distance, or perhaps closer, I would hear someone walking their dog, throwing a ball and urging the animal to go and find it. That was when I knew I had nothing under control. This was strange but helpful in a strange way.

The shoot was an exploration of voyeurism and exhibitionism in a realistic setting. I would have my dress removed but keep my knee-length socks on. In the end I would be left topless, almost nude in fact. The photographer would provide the peeping Tom perspective at first. Then he would take the initiative and interact with me.That interaction would take the form of tying my wrists together, binding me to a tree with coils of rope and pretending to spank my bottom. His focus would be on my white panties as a symbol of my public vulnerability.

I understood quite quickly that I couldn’t dominate the situation at any level. Random chance and unforseen events dictated the fetishism in the final images. We went back indoors to complete the shoot and finish telling the story that had begun outside. I had control again but the excitement of being observed through the trees by the photographer, and anyone else who looked in our direction, was more than I could have hoped for.

Last year had some real highlights when it came to British fetish. For me, the one that stood out the most was the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. If it was not William’s camp uniform that turned heads then it was Pippa Middleton’s derriere. It seemed like a hard act to follow.

Even though the summer has faded, the effect of “50 Shades of Grey” still lingers. I’m sitting at my writing desk and I’m thinking about sex. Nothing unusual there you might think. It seems to me that everyone is caught up in the meaning and uses of BDSM in their own lives and relationships. Something has been forgotten in all of those TV discussions focused on strap-ons, handcuffs and spankings. I haven’t heard any debates recently about sex and humour. Have we forgotten how to be dirty in the bedroom and actually laugh while we are doing it?

I haven’t.

When I think back to those times when I was turned on and trying hard not to laugh I always end up remembering the same afternoon. When I saw the finished pictures I couldn’t help laughing again.

I love having my portrait taken. I try to have new ones shot whenever I can. During this shoot I remembered an observation about my face that someone had made a few days before.They had pointed out that my features didn’t just change when I wore a mask as you might expect. When my face was covered I was transformed completely. I seemed to adopt an intense fetish look and flaunt an imaginary persona that was at odds with the real me.

I wanted a mask to wear for the photographer. The Mexican wrestler one that I had was packed away and would take too long to find. In desperation I searched through my modelling bag. I found my favourite crotchless bodystocking and I came up with a way to use it. This would be a new way to wear one but it would never have worked if it had been manufactured with a gusset.

As I tugged the mesh onto my face I experienced some strange sensations. It felt like I had a mask on but I knew that I was completely visible. I wasn’t perfectly recognisable though. My features were constrained and fixed. I imagined a type of facial BDSM where the act of bondage was applied to cheeks, noses and lips. I wanted to possess the features of an emotionless doll but with a fetish twist.

I tried to pout but I felt the tautness of the black mesh against my sensitive lips. The abrasive drag reminded me of the last time I wore fishnets without any panties. I looked at my calendar from this year, saw it was already October and realised that  next year’s one was almost due for production. I had been looking to do a collaboration with a new photographer and Lourdes Ribas of www.pixelstudi.com had already agreed to do the shoot. I was delighted when a date was set to do just that.

Then, I developed a cold and had to cancel. I was badly congested for days before developing an ear infection. Not only was I exhausted but one ear was completely blocked. I just didn’t feel kinky. Nevertheless, time was passing and the pressure on me began to build. Another date was fixed and I knew that I couldn’t cancel for a second time.

Even though part of me was still trying to talk myself out of it, I made myself go to the venue the second time. It took ages to pack my bag with a variety of essential accessories. More time than usual was spent on folding the stockings, packing the high heels and selecting the dresses that I would need. My main idea was to wear sheer dresses the wrong way round so that their open backs would allow my charms to be displayed more easily to the photographer.

Although I had only known Lourdes for a few months, the set dresser, Pepe von Strudel from www.vonstrudel.com, had been a friend of mine for years. I was so excited about being photographed in a set decorated for me, before I had even arrived, that my lack of energy was quickly forgotten. I reminded myself that I could also rely on a great make-up artist no matter what.

As it turned out, I needn’t have worried. The shoot was a lot of fun and the results speak for themselves. My new calendar is everything I wanted it to be and more. Each month and every page flaunts an exclusive and erotic image of me that provokes and tantalises the viewer with fantasy scenarios featuring lingerie, giant apples and even latex by MadRubb
