Although many people find being tickled themselves or tickling someone else to be a pleasurable experience-even a social one-tickling fetishists take it much further than that. They experience an intense erotic charge by placing the act of tickling into a strictly formalised scenario and they use it only under controlled conditions in an almost theatrical display. The fetish for tickling-or Knismolagnia-is enjoyed by fetishists to the exclusion of other pre-intercourse activities. For some, their sexual focus is placed exclusively on the tickling aspect with actual sex being secondary or even redundant. For the committed fetishist, advanced tickling games can be enhanced even more by the inclusion of some form of physical restraint applied to the person being tickled to prevent them protecting themselves or interfering with the game. The tied-up partner may also be blindfolded to increase their anxiety and add the element of surprise. Preferred tickle spots can include the feet, navel, armpits, breasts, nipples, ribs, sides, stomach and genitals. Erogenous zones are particularly receptive to tickles and,in this case, applying it to those areas is not generally associated with laughter or sudden withdrawal. The intention of the fetishist is to use continuous tickling to induce writhing, uncontrolled movements and involuntary vocalisations in their subject.
