Fetish Glossary

Venus O'Hara's Fetish GlossaryThe word fetish derives from 15th century Portuguese feitiço, which meant charm or spell. A fetish is an object believed to have supernatural powers, or in particular, a man-made object that has power over others. Essentially, fetishism is the attribution of inherent value or powers to an object. The terms “erotic fetish” and “sexual fetish” were first introduced by the French psychologist Alfred Binet in the 1940s.

Today a “fetish” is an object, non-reproductive body part or action whose presence or existence causes excitement and/or arousal in an individual. An object might be latex or heels, a non-sexual body part could be legs or feet and tickling or smoking are examples of actions.

“Fetish” is also used as an adjective that relates to anything connected to the world of BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Domination, Submission, Sadomasochism) such as fetish wear or fetish clubs.

The Art of Playing Footsie (Foot Fetish)

Playing footsie is an ideal way to spice up a romantic dinner for two. It is even better when it is used as a distraction from yet another boring lunch with the in-laws. Footsie is defined as the action of touching another person’s feet, lightly, with your own.

Searching for a Sole-Mate

My soles hare the most sensitive part of my feet by far. They also represent the area that receives the most attention from my foot fans. If I were to accept each and every one of their offers to lick and suck my soles I know for certain that when I tried to stand up, the volume of saliva would send me sliding across the floor.

The Thrill of Going Barefoot (Foot Fetish)

I remember loving that barefoot feeling when I was young, especially when I went out into the garden in the early morning. As I placed my naked feet on the cold grass, when it was still wet with dew, the delicate skin on my soles and inbetween my toes never failed to respond.

My Foreign Fetish (Xenophilia)

I would definitely consider myself to be a xenophile. My love for foreign things began at a young age when I became obsessed with everything that was French. Later, I lived and studied in Paris as an important part of my universtity degree. My xenophilia became even greater.

Discovering The Fourth Hole (Foot Fetish)

Discovering The Fourth Hole (Foot Fetish) Recently, after enjoying a pedicure and the pampering that goes with it, I wanted to celebrate. I realised that there was really only one way to do it properly. If I really wanted to showcase my freshly-painted toenails and my new softer soles then discovering the power of my fourth hole was the best way. I cannot deny that I had an ulterior motive; those lubricants I needed to test, and review, had been waiting long enough. When you are a sex toy tester, it becomes inevitable that you will end up mixing business with pleasure or vice versa. Fortunately, I had a more than willing accomplice. Later, I laid down on my bed face up and I ordered him to remain standing at the foot so I could see him. “Strip” I ordered and he complied. I extended my long legs and pointed my toes at his vulnerable thighs. I ignored his genitalia completely and he became a little frustrated, trying to grab my teasing ankles. “Wait” I warned him and I resumed my intention of working him up in my own good time. I pressed my big toes into the tops of his legs and drew invisible designs on his thighs and then, going upwards, up and down his abdomen. My talented toes begin to close in on his ever more impressive stiffness. Then, I broke contact and edged backwards a little, bringing my feet together as he stared at them. I […]

The Female Sexual Consumer

There’s no doubt that women are spending a great deal more of their disposable income on sexual products of different kinds. The last decade has seen a rapid rise in the number of high-end erotic boutiques aimed at the female sexual consumer and couples. In their smooth design, attractive displays and simple cleanliness they put the old seedy male-orientated sex shops to shame. Women are spoilt for choice when it comes to sex toys. In fact, there’s so much variety on offer that erotic shopping can even be confusing for sex toy virgins. More recently, the Fifty Shades of Grey literary phenomenon has contributed to the increase of female sexual consumerism. Despite these advances, when it comes to actual ‘hands on’ sexual consumerism among women, then there’s no denying that men have a lot more variety and possibilities than we do. After all, the oldest profession was a service for men. Female sexual freedom is still a quite recent concept, but with increased demand, surely a better variety and range of offerings is just around the corner. There is still the widely held belief that women don’t need to pay for sex and that even if they did, it doesn’t seem to be as socially acceptable. However, in Australia where prostitution is legal, websites like Escorts & Babes, make the whole process a lot easier for women and men. There are many reasons why someone would pay for sex. One of them could be the need to live out a […]
